The New Parents Education Program (NPEP) is a collaborative effort between PAREF and EduChild, a non-profit organization formed by parents to help fellow parents in the delicate task of rearing a family. It is PAREF's parental formation effort for its schools' entry-level parents.
The NPEP is founded on the PAREF Vision Statement:
“Our parents are first and foremost educators of their children. Their home is the first school. Realizing the seriousness of their responsibility, they participate in formative activities that enable them to live as models of wisdom and virtue … They actively participate in continuous formation.”
"Anyone who wishes to give love must also receive love as a gift"
- Benedict XVI, Deus Caritas Est
The premise of the program is that school success begins at home, in that:
1. Academic and personal success of children rest on the love of husband and wife, and
2. The love of husband and wife rest on each one's personal self-giving
The NPEP is divided into 5 modules: Deliberate Parenting, Dignity of the Person, Home-School Collaboration, Marital Relations and Family Visioning.
